Why Should I Visit?
You might have several different reasons to visit me in Honduras -
An encouragement to your missionary - I'd love to see you and show you my ministry - to share my heart for the ministry at Fuente. It truly would bless me to have you visit.
Accountability - are you supporting me as a missionary? Hold me accountable for your support. Come see how I spend my time. View my ministry - meet the people who are a part of my ministry and see the part I play in the ministry at Fuente. Hear about the successes and struggles. Ask me questions. Encourage me. Don't just send me a check - we are partners together in this ministry and I'd love for you to see our ministry up close.
An easy way to visit a foreign country - for some people, traveling outside the USA is scary. If you are visiting me - staying with me at my house, allowing me to translate for you as I drive you around and show you my city, and having someone who can introduce you to people, places and food - means that you don't have to worry about differences in culture or language - you can relax and enjoy the learning process. But I can guarantee that traveling to and visiting Honduras will open your eyes to a different world - a world with poverty but a warm friendliness, a world of different sounds and tastes but still the same sunrise and sunset with daily life in between, a host of new experiences that will not soon be forgotten, and a world with people who might not speak your language but instantly become a part of your family because of the same love for Christ.
A ministry opportunity - whether you come alone or with a group from your church, we can tailor any ministry opportunities to fit your group's needs and abilities. Sometimes getting out of your normal comfort zone where everything is always the same pushes people to realize that they CAN serve even if they haven't realized their own potential in the past. This is especially true for teenagers who many times have not experienced any other culture than the culture in which they were born. This gives a ministry opportunity that is truly eye-opening.
Here are some quotes from a previous visit by a group of juniors and seniors:
Bonding with the neighborhood kids despite the language barrier was probably my favorite memory.
If you get asked to go on a trip like this - say yes right away. It will change your life.
I was culture shocked - but not in a bad way - even the expected differences were so interesting to see.
I realized that even the time spent with a missionary's teenage children was a ministry opportunity.
Seeing other believers, just like us, praising the same God, was so eye-opening. We're different but the same - all related through Christ.
