My ministry

Since 2017, I have served alongside the Conover family in the city of San Pedro Sula, assisting in church planting efforts. God has given me the privilege of helping two churches, Faro de Luz and its daughter church Fuente. Faro de Luz is a suburban church on the north eastern side of the city, and my involvement in that church is now very minor. I teach several of the youth piano lessons and hold a Christmas piano recital as I continue to train up the future musicians of the church.

My heart is downtown at Fuente de Luz, a church-plant in a poorer neighborhood where God has given me so many opportunities for ministry. I play the piano, direct the children's ministry (which includes teaching Sunday school and Wednesday kids' class), coordinate youth events, teach Spanish literacy, and encourage the women through ladies' fellowships and discipleship meetings. I love watching God grow our church!

Ministry Goals:

1.  Children's Ministry

I began in 2017 with 5 children that began faithfully attending our church for both Sunday and Wednesday services. Fuente already had a children’s Sunday School class taught by my coworker, Maria Conover, but the faithful attendance of the children on Wednesdays led to my beginning our Wednesday evening children’s program. Our children’s program has continued to grow, and our church is reaching out to over 20 children that live nearby the church.

The growth of our children’s ministry has led to our church receiving the nickname, “the church of the children.” We know that children are the future of the church, and we love each one that God brings through our doors. My burden, which is shared by my coworkers and others from the church, is not just to reach these children, but we are praying that God would also allow us to reach their families with the Gospel.

I also desire to train up and eventually hand over the leadership of the children’s ministries to Hondurans, as God raises up church members who are qualified and willing to serve. My heart is also to involve the youth, so that as they grow up (both in age and spiritual maturity), they will one day be able to teach children’s classes as well.

2.  Music

God has given me a love for music, and I am excited to share that music with others, whether it's through playing and singing in church or teaching music to others. I have been teaching piano to church members, mainly of the Faro church, as I intentionally train up church musicians. I'm praying God also provides me piano students from Fuente who can eventually accompany for that church as well. Lesson are also opportunities to disciple my students and encourage them towards spiritual growth and service to the Savior. Additionaly I coordinate and direct Fuente's Christmas program annually.

3.  Evangelism & Discipleship

Everyone has a different sphere of influence. My focus is to use the contacts that I have - with those in my neighborhood and those I see each day in town - to share Christ.

Discipleship is an important companion to evangelism; those who have come to Christ need to be mentored towards growth in Christ-likeness and understanding sound doctrine. Sometimes discipleship looks like formal Bible studies with women in the church. Sometimes it's taking one of the youths in the church to get hot chocolate or ice cream and using that opportunity to talk one-on-one with them. I also am intentionally discipling the kiddos that come to Literacy class. We start out class by reading a passage from the Bible and discussing what it says. Those class times have been precious opportunities to answer questions about God's Word and learning how we should live our lives.
