Possible Activities
Ministry Projects
Let me know what type of ministry would interest your group. I will coordinate details with my coworkers and others as we plan your visit.
Church projects - painting, cleaning, construction, etc.
Sunday school/ children's church lessons
Special music for church services
Testimonies in church services
Literacy Outreach (don't worry if you don't know Spanish; I can still use plenty of help!!)
Youth activities or girls' Bible study (help me with games, crafts, etc.)
Plan out several months' worth of crafts/activities and organize list of needed materials.
Ask me about other current ministry opportunities - there's always something going on!
Souvenirs
Bazaar del Sábado - open only on Saturdays, 10 am - 7 pm, located at Expocentro
Guamilito - artisan's market A 3 minute overview of the market
baskets, small wooden items, local handcrafts, soccer tshirts, keychains, etc.
La Colonia - supermarket view this week's offers
small food items - jelly, candy, coffee, cookies, etc
Other Options
If you would like to have a time set aside for some tourism, here are some possible ideas:
IN TOWN
Coca Cola hike - there is a huge Coca Cola sign up on the mountain, and a paved road leads up to it if you would like to hike it. It has a beautiful view of the city of SPS, and you can also buy cold coconut water at the top for 20 lempiras (less than $1). Plan on this taking about 2-3 hours. *Alternately, we can go just a short way up and stop at one of the lower-level views of the city if you don't feel up to an hour up-hill hike.
Cathedral, Central Park and Municipal Palace
DAY TRIPS
Copán - Mayan Ruins, old cobblestone city - this would involve 2 days and an overnight in Copán
Omoa - Fortaleza de San Fernando, arguably one of my favorite places in Honduras, then we can get lunch at a sea-side restaurant (and you can cool off in the water!)
Pulhapenzak Falls - giant waterfalls, hiking, ziplines over the falls, tour behind falls
Tela - beach on Gulf of Mexico - this would possibly involve 2 days with an overnight, other further options such as Roatán can be discussed.
