Money Info
Honduras uses the Lempira as it's national currency.
The exchange rate is currently around 24.5 L per 1 USD. The actual amount changes daily, but there have not been any extreme fluctuations during my years living in Honduras.

Credit Cards
Credit cards may be used at most restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc.
Check if your credit card has a fee for international transactions - if they do, you will be charged an additional fee each time that you use your card in Honduras.
CapitalOne credit cards and many travel credit cards are likely to NOT have an international transaction fee. Check with your provider to make sure.
Most widely accepted credit cards for use are Master Card or Visa. Some places might accept Discover and American Express cards, but it is not guaranteed.
Cash
We can schedule a time at the beginning of your trip to go to the bank and exchange money. DO NOT bring $20 bills. All other bills are okay as long as they are in pristine condition (no rips, tears, writing) Fold creases are fine.
Cash will most likely be needed for: Small purchases, touristy items, food bought at pulperías, etc.
